Scholarship grants are awarded annually to persons who work, or plan to work, directly with children. The NAJA Scholarship Program was begun in 1962 and has awarded more than $997,000.

Instructions and application forms are available only from Sept. 1 through Feb. 1 from the NAJA Web site. Go to www.najanet.org.

The Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood is honored to announce the recipients of our 2010 scholarships.  Each year the Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood awards college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors based on academic performance, service, leadership, community involvement, an essay submitted by applicants, financial need, and an interview.  A panel of non-Junior Auxiliary judges chooses the recipients.  This year the JA of Greenwood awarded $10,000 in scholarships.

First Place: $5000 scholarship awarded to DeAndrill Smith, daughter of Andrill Jackson.  DeAndrill is a 2010 honor graduate of Pillow Academy and plans to attend Mississippi State University this fall and major in biomedical engineering.

Second Place:  $3000 scholarship awarded to Matthew Wong, son of Nelson Wong and the late Mrs. Susanna Wong.  Matthew is a 2010 honor graduate of Pillow Academy and plans to attend Mississippi State University this fall and major in mechanical engineering.

Third Place:  $2000 scholarship awarded to Sam Baker, son of Ray and Alice Baker.  Sam is a 2010 senior at Greenwood High School and plans to attend Belhaven University this fall and major in Elementary education.
